Farewell... farewell... farewell...

One quarter is over. Challenges, experiences and memories is here again. What are the challenges and problems that you encountered during your studies in the 3rd quarter of our school??? What is the subject that makes to be hardworking??? What is the hardest subject that you know that makes your brain hard to think??? What is the easiest subject that you know that makes your brain easy to think???

We, the IV Mabini students most of the times are very noisy during classes, during vacant periods and in between periods. Some of the teachers near our classroom are getting angry with us because of our ear- destroying noise of our section. WE are also scolded by our school librarian because of our noise, not just a noise but a combination made by our tongue, made by guitars, made by shouts, etc. This problem are hard for us to solve because some of us in our section, being noisy is nature to us.

The 2nd biggest problem that I have encountered are some of my classmates do not have their self discipline. Discipline acts a very important role in our classroom. But since my classmates do not have their discipline, most of the times, our room is not peaceful.

The hardest subject that I have ever met during my 1st year life until now is the SCIENCE. This subject is a combination of computations, analizations, etc. Sometimes I do not understand what our lesson is.But since our teacher is good, I now fully understand what our lesson all about and this subject makes me to be hardworking student.

Technology and Livelihood Education or ICT is the easiest subject that I have ever encountered during my 3rd quarter in our school. I made this so easy blogging is popular to me. I made use this very easy because I have my own PC personal computer in our house. This PC makes a many advantages to our lesson in T.L.E. IV.

Essence of Christmas

If personal faith plays a major role in a family's life, their observance of Jesus's birthday will reflect their beliefs. But all too often, we see people drifting away from celebrating Christmas for its true meaning.

Whether through indifference, ignorance or deception, culture is heading down the path of least resistance ― away from God and all that is sacred.

The prevailing attitude today, even in some churches, is that Christmas is secular rather than religious. There is frequently more interest in exchanging gifts than in sharing the good news of this special day.

Many people prefer the more ``tolerant'' word holiday as a substitute for Christmas. But believers should not think this way. As Christ-followers who realize that our eternal future is in the Savior's hand, we need to know and demonstrate the difference between a holiday and a holy day.

Christmas is a commemoration of the historic moment when God became man in order to live among us. The creator and sustainer of life died on a cross so that we could live sinless before the Father.

If we have experienced the amazing grace of Jesus Christ, we certainly have cause to celebrate. And we have reason to share our faith with as many people as possible ― in that way, their joy on this day can be as full and rich as our own.

We cannot allow ourselves to drift into a materialistic view of Christmas along with the rest of the world. In a month of colored lights and glowing candles, we should be burning brighter than ever as His lights to the world.

MY TEACHER, MY HERO!!!

I like a teacher who gives you something to take home to think about besides homework. ~Lily Tomlin as "Edith Ann"
Teachers have the very important responsibility of shaping the lives of young, impressionable children. With this responsibility comes great pride and joy. Therefore all teachers should strive for what can be considered to be a “good teacher.” A good teacher can be defined as someone who always pushes students to want to do their best while at the same time trying to make learning interesting as well as creative. A positive or negative influence from a teacher early on in life can have a great effect on the life of a child. Teachers, especially at the elementary level, must be very creative with their teaching styles. Not every child learns the same way, nor are they interested in the same things. It is difficult to keep the attention of 15-20 children under the age of ten. Classroom setup and design is a good way to get and keep the attention of students. Workstations are a good way to encourage different types of learning. By allowing children a chance to choose which activities they want to participate in, children are taking control of their own education. At the elementary level, children are always learning and sometimes don’t even know it. When I was in kindergarten, I can remember playing at the different stations in the classroom. One station was for gardening and we could plant seeds and check them every day to see how much they had grown. Another station in that classroom that sticks out in my mind is the arts and crafts station.
There was a large array of crayons, markers, scissors, construction paper and building materials we could use to make pretty decorations to give to our parents for our homes. By choosing which station we wanted to work at, we were becoming much more interested in what we were learning because we were doing what we wanted to do, not what we had to do. By setting high standards for a student, the teacher is encouraging the student to do the same and will eventually develop high expectations for him or herself. A teacher who is constantly looking for the best possible work from the child will force the child to try his or her hardest in order to please the teacher. Going along with this idea is the whole idea of the teacher being interested in the subject matter. If the students know that the subject they are studying is something that greatly interests the teacher, they will be motivated to try their hardest in order to please the teacher. My ninth grade science teacher is the best example of this type of teacher. I was only in her class for about a month or so but it was probably the most interested I have ever been in Science in my entire life. Whenever she would present ideas about prehistoric man, her eyes would light up and she would get so excited and I would be forced to listen to whatever she had to say. Everyone had told me that she was a hard teacher but I just never saw it that way. She had “done her homework” so-to-speak and was very knowledgeable about the subject matter. When it came time to write a paper on my particular part of the evolution of man, I found myself trying harder than I ever had. I consider her to be a good teacher because even if she did not care too much about what she was teaching, she presented it in a way that made it seem like it was her life. This helped me to want to learn because I wanted to make her know that she really made me understand the subject that she had taught. Teachers must be open to many different types of people, ideas and cultures. They also must always try to respect the views of everyone. Children from lots of different backgrounds are going to be together in one classroom. The teacher must learn to incorporate everyone’s beliefs into the daily curriculum. All students must be aware of the differences in the world around them. The time in which it is most difficult to handle the differences in cultures is the holiday season. Christian children who celebrate Christmas are always extremely excited for Santa to come to their houses and for all the presents they are going to receive. Teachers are not allowed to celebrate Christmas or any other religious holidays in the classroom without mentioning all of the traditions of the different cultures. It would take far too much time to do an activity that pertains to every religion. Looking back on my days in elementary school, I can think of all of the things I did in school around Christmas time. Almost every year, as a writing assignment, we wrote a letter to Santa Claus telling him what we were hoping to get on Christmas morning. We made Christmas trees out of egg cartons and ornaments out of construction paper. The teachers were always very sensitive to people who didn’t celebrate this holiday. Jewish children made menorahs or stars of David and others made alternative projects. While trying to be sensitive to the beliefs of children and their parents, teachers also must try not to go overboard in covering the traditions of every religion. A teacher who instills a bad learning experience in a child could scar him or her for life. Teachers have a lot of responsibility and need to make sure that they make learning a positive experience for all. By being sensitive to the needs of everyone and presenting different ways of doing things, it can be possible for everyone to have an equal opportunity to do their best.

Adapting to Diverse Science for Culture Development

These days, people view science as a culture because it has its own language, habits and values. If we were asked to use the different sciences and where we can use it, the simplest answer is EVERYTHING. From the air we breathe, to using the internet, science is present.

By applying the knowledge of biology, we can take better care of ourselves because we know what’s going on inside or bodies. If something’s wrong and we need medicine, we use biochemistry. Biochemistry is the study of the substances and reactions involved in life processes. It deals with the diseases and the medicine we need to take in to cure it. What about chemistry? Chemistry is always a part of our lives here on Earth. What we wear, what we eat- these things involve chemicals. These are matter. We can say that chemistry is present in everything that was produced and consumed. People may not be aware of it but without chemistry, we might still be using stones and stakes to make fire like cavemen.

The biggest and the easiest thing that comes to our minds whenever we think of what science has done to help us is the information technology (I.T.). During the old days, we write letters to communicate with others but the big problem is who would bring and deliver them. It takes days for the travelers to reach their destination and a few more days to return the answer to their masters. But now, we can communicate to anyone across the globe without getting up from our seat. Because of I.T., we can send e-mails and chat instantly. These processes are a lot faster than writing letters and it will only take a few seconds to send a message to anyone. We can also use the internet to explore the world because it is faster than reading a book and we can find the information we need in the shortest possible time.

Now, the big question is: DO WE USE SCIENCE PROPERLY? The answer is yes and no. It is a good thing that we are harnessing science to create a better and an easier world but we’re not using all our knowledge about science in a good way. I’m talking about the nuclear power bombs and other weapons. Instead of helping us create a better world, they are doing the opposite of helping. It damages nature but we can still prevent it from causing destruction if we use these things wisely. We should think first before we act and we should also consider the consequences of our actions. Science is a very helpful thing and we can’t ignore the evidences. So instead of using science for evil purposes, we should just develop it to have an amazing and an easy life.

In my own point of view, Adapting To Diverse Science Culture for Development is that we should be able to adapt and feel free to use the different ways of development in science because it leads to enhance our quality of living. And whatever development there is, is for the betterment, advancement, and for us to move into further that what has been usually done. There is then therefore a new way of doing things, and that new way is easier, healthier, and improvement has been based with the aid of science. For Diverse Science Culture refers to different ways in which the development came from, and yet whoever the person who made the development, whatever culture he/she has, as a whole if such development can be use by every other person not coming from the same way of life then that certain development was adapted and being used to do things better.

WIKANG FILIPINO: MULA BALER HANGGANG BUONG BANSA

BUHAY FILIPINO.

be proud in speaking ENGLISH!

ENGLISH as THE GLOBAL LANGUAGE...Because English is so widely spoken, it has often been referred to as a "world language", the lingua franca of the modern era. While English is not an official language in most countries, it is currently the language most often taught as a second language around the world. Some linguists (such as David Graddol) believe that it is no longer the exclusive cultural property of "native English speakers", but is rather a language that is absorbing aspects of cultures worldwide as it continues to grow. It is, by international treaty, the official language for aerial and maritime communications. English is an official language of the United Nations and many other international organizations, including the International Olympic Committee.

English is the language most often studied as a foreign language in the European Union (by 89% of schoolchildren), followed by French (32%), German (18%), Spanish (8%), and Russian; while the perception of the usefulness of foreign languages amongst Europeans is 68% English, 25% French, 22% German, and 16% Spanish. Among non-English speaking EU countries, a large percentage of the population claimed to have been able to converse in English in the Netherlands (87%), Sweden (85%), Denmark (83%), Luxembourg (66%), Finland (60%), Slovenia (56%), Austria (53%), Belgium (52%), and Germany (51%). Norway and Iceland also have a large majority of competent English-speakers.

Books, magazines, and newspapers written in English are available in many countries around the world. English is also the most commonly used language in the sciences. In 1997, the Science Citation Index reported that 95% of its articles were written in English, even though only half of them came from authors in English-speaking countries.

Filipino....The national language of the Philippines and, along with English, is an official language; designated in the 1987 Philippine Constitution. Filipino is an Austronesian language that is based on various existing native languages in the Philippines, with a significant number of Spanish words in the vocabulary. In fact, about 40% of everyday (informal) Filipino conversation is practically made up of Spanish loanwords. The Filipino language is in evolution, development and further enrichment on the basis of existing languages of the Philippines and other languages. It is the first language of Filipinos living in Metro Manila and the second language of most Filipinos.

Sometimes the name "Filipino" is incorrectly used as the generic name for all the languages of the Philippines which, in turn, would be incorrectly termed as "dialects". Also, because of its similarity to the language on which it is based, it is still incorrectly identified with Tagalog.

The Commission on the Filipino Language (Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino), the regulating body of Filipino, envisions a process of popularizing regional dialect usage derived from regional languages as the basis for standardizing and intellectualizing the language, thus forming a lingua franca.
